The vibrant and timeless tradition of Tungjoy Glory Day, also known as Veymai Teithe, was celebrated today at Tungjoy village, Senapati district with great enthusiasm by the Veymai people with the motto: "Avei-Athro" .
This cherished annual event is a unique blend of cultural pride, spiritual gratitude, and remembrance of ancestral legacies, symbolizing the unity and strength of the community.
The opening ceremony was marked by a grand gathering of villagers and distinguished guests.
The event was graced by Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district, as chief guest, M Sheveine, MCS SDO/BDO, Mao Maram, Tadubi, and a proud daughter of Veymai as the chief host and SP of Senapati, Anupam as guest of honour.
The day's program featured traditional rituals, cultural performances, and ceremonial blessings, all reflecting the deep-rooted customs and values of the Veymai people.
These rituals not only showcased the community's rich heritage but also served as an opportunity to express collective gratitude to God for His bountiful blessings.
The celebration will culminate on January 5 with a spirited folk song competition, a highly anticipated event that highlights the musical talent and cultural vibrancy of the Veymai people.
Adding to the significance, the village's oldest elder will impart his blessings, reinforcing the connection between the past, present, and future.
