Day of non-violence programme held

On the occasion of Vijayadashami and International Day of Non-Violence, the Interfaith Forum Manipur (IFM) laid the foundation stone of World Peace Centre, Manipur at Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Complex, Hayingkhongbal, Imphal West today.
Reportedly, World Peace Centres will be built at Thoubal and T Khullen.
Additionally, a National seminar on "Politics As Freedom From Violence: Philosophical And Theological Perspectives" was held at the Complex and a One-Year Youth Peace building Fellowship Program, Batch 2025-26 was also launched.
The event was attended by Acharyasri Sachidananda Bharathi, founder and Acharyaguru, Dharma Rajya Vedi and convenor, NCRP, Deiva Kripa Ashram, Kerala as the chief guest; Vidyapati Senjam, vice president, Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB) as the functional president and Professor N Rajmuhon, former VC, DM University; Shivadutta Luwang, member secretary, LSTB; K Ibomcha and N Tomba, senior members, LSTB; Swami Gopalkrishnananda, IFM; Archbishop Linus, member, IFM; Abdul Halim, member, IFM and JIH; Chunkeirung Kamei, member, IFM and TRC (AMN); Professor W Nabakumar, retd Professor, Manipur University and Mayo Ninggombi, member, AMBA as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Acharyasri Sachidananda Bharathi said that on the International Day of Non-Violence, held in commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, the foundation stone laying ceremony of World Peace Centre, Manipur was organised.
Meanwhile, IFM convenor B Deban said today's initiatives were launched with the goal of bringing sustainable peace, security and development in Manipur in view of the 2 year old conflict.
Moreover, the fellowship program was launched with the aim of ensuring that youths are focused more on peacebuilding efforts, he added.
