Imphal, April 01:
Sounding optimistic of the success of the party in the next Assembly election, State unit NCP president and former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam has stated that NCP would work toward ushering in a good governance and development of the weaker section of the society so that peace and normalcy would be restored in Manipur.
Addressing a press conference at his Thangmeiband residence today, Radhabinod said NCP would give more thrust on good governance, development of youths, women and weaker section of the society and restoration of peace.
He further said NCP would always safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur by strengthening the emotional ties among the people.
For strengthening the emotional integrity it is also essential to decentralise the power from the grassroots level, he opined, while observing that the culture of calling frequent bandh and blockades should be stopped in the interest of development of Manipur.
Charging the Ibobi Ministry with failure on various fronts and encouraging corruption, Radhabinod said his party also has a similar move to be made like the BJP on the question of disqualification of MLAs over the office of profit issue.
In the name of downsizing the Ministry, MLAs were appointed as chairmen of the profit making Corporations, thereby making a mockery of the whole concept of down-sizing, Radhabinod said.
Radhabinod, who had recently met NCP National president and Union Agriculture Minister Sarad Pawar during the North East Expo held at Dimapur on March 25, said that he had requested the Union Minister for extending a special Agro-industries package for Manipur.
The Union Minister who is also the president of BCCI has also been prevailed upon for sponsoring the training programmes of Manipuri players who brought laurels for the country at the recent Commonwealth Wealth Games, so that they can perform better in the Olympics Games as well, Radhabinod said, adding that he would be going to Delhi to meet the Union Minister to hold further discussion in this regard.
Earlier speaking at the press conference, party vice president and spokesperson N Radhakanta informed party committees inall the Assembly Constituencies would be hosting reception function in honour of Radhabinod from April 16 to May.
