ChBCA celebrates Golden Jubilee / 5th Triennial Fellowship 2026

Kakching, January 31 2026: Marking 50 years since its establishment, Chothe Baptist Churches Association (ChBCA) kicked off its four-day Golden Jubilee Celebration cum 5th Triennial Fellowship 2026 at Phaipi Baptist Church, Phaipi village, Chandel yesterday.

Phaipi Baptist Church is the Mission Centre of ChBCA.

The celebration organised under the theme "Standing on the promises of God" is set to conclude on February 2 .

The inaugural event was attended by Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) general secretary Reverend K Losii Mao; Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) mission secretary Reverend Boipu Serto and ChBCA executive secretary Reverend Dr Hranum Khiang as speakers.

ChBCA president Bicco Yulhung kicked off the event with the hoisting of the flag.

Worship songs, traditional dances and indigenous sports and games were the main highlights of the function.

Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) released a book titled "Athieng Laa" on the occasion.

On the second day of the celebration today, K Losii Mao unveiled the golden jubilee celebration monolith.

Following the welcome address delivered by ChBCA executive secretary Reverend Dr Hranum Khiang, a souvenir was released by ChBCA former executive secretary Reverend Y David.

The main afternoon event was attended by Standhope Yulhung, retd Principal Secretary of the Election Commission of India as the chief guest; ChBCA president Y Bicco as the functional president; Chothe Lim Abom Manipur (Chothe Tribe Union Manipur) president Malsawm Thao; H Ibohal Chothe, retd Executive Engineer, PWD Manipur and Thao Hopeson Chothe, retd MCS, former Chandel ADC member as the guests of honour.

Today's celebration featured worship songs, showcases of cultural dance and dramas of the Chothe community and indigenous games including "Ruikai Hlakpa, Umajamsheh, Adihal, Ral Lam, Stlun Noh".

Reverend Dr Hranum Khiang was present as speaker in the evening section of the event.

Tomorrow (third day), the celebration will be graced by CBCNEI mission secretary Reverend Boipu Serto as speaker in the morning and evening section, while a song competition will be organised in the afternoon.

According to Reverend Dr Hranum Khiang, Chothe Baptist Churches Association is comprised of 11 churches - Phaipi Baptist Church, Chumbang Baptist Church, Khongkhang Baptist Church, Phaihu Baptist Church, Phaihulon Baptist Church, Phantu Baptist Church, Lunghu Baptist Church, Salemthar Baptist Church, Lamlanghupi Baptist Church, Lirungtabi Baptist Church and Wapi Baptist Church.

He expressed happiness that the golden jubilee celebration brought together more than 3000 people from the constituent churches and different communities, providing a great opportunity to praise the Almighty.

He expressed hope that the celebration will usher in peace and harmonious co-existence among various communities in Manipur.

Meanwhile, retd MCS Thao Hopeson Chothe spoke about the theme "Standing on the promises of God" .
