Governor SS Sidhu who visited Churachandpur by road today as part of his tour to all the hill districts of the State, informed the district administration that a special project entitled, "Orchid" launched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to tackle the AIDS/HIV menace will be launched at the district from January 18.A statement issued by the office of the Governor's Secretariat today informed that the Governor met NGO representatives and public leaders who highlighted the grievances of the public ranging from the poor road condition of CCpur town, inadequate water supply, irregular and erratic power supply in the town, the widening/repairing work of NH-150 and Guite Road and to hand them over to the BRO, deteriorating law and order situation and supply of life saving drugs for HIV/AIDS patients and poor public distribution system in the district etc.
The Governor also had a long interaction session with the district level officers and minutely discussed many key issues, said the statement adding that the Governor also asked the SDOs and SDCs to start functioning.
The Governor also stressed on the need to expedite the implementation of development schemes such as the already sanctioned water supply scheme of CCpur town, completion of the installation of 5 MVA sub-station at Khelzang, repairing of the town roads, electrification of the villages, posting of more Science and Maths teachers at the distric.
