Resettlement of 40,000 IDPs by March 31 : CS

Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel has stated that the Government aims to resettle over 40,000 internally displaced people (10,000 families ) by March 31, 2026 .
In a statement, the Chief Secretary said that more than 2,200 families, comprising over 10,000 IDPs, had been resettled by December 2025 .
Saying that the Government has so far released about Rs 124 crore for the resettlement of IDPs at various locations, he added that 3700 families consisting about 16500 IDPs have been resettled so far.
While the statement detailed the rehabilitation process for IDPs, it did not address the facilitation of free movement across the State.
As mentioned in earlier communications, a State-level Committee has been formed under his chairmanship, with the Home Commissioner, DGP, and other senior Government officials as members to monitor the rehabilitation process, he said and added that similarly, District-level Committees have been established under the respective District Magistrates, and these committees are meeting regularly to conduct thorough reviews of the rehabilitation process.
He also stated that the primary goal of the Government is to gradually and securely rehabilitate IDPs, restore stable living conditions, and facilitate normal community life.
He also said that approximately 7000 houses have been sanctioned under the Special PMAY-G for the reconstruction of fully damaged houses and these units are in various stages of construction.
