A combined team of Imphal East District Police Commandos and personnel of 32 Assam Rifles apprehended two underground activists one belonging to the proscribed KYKL outfit and the other to the PULF from different places today.
In the first instance, the KYKL activist identified as Mayangbam Premchand Meetei alias West (21) s/o M Rajen Meetei of Kakching Khunou, Umathel was arrested from Kongba Bazar based on specific information during frisking and checking operation at around 7.10 am today, according to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East District L Kailun.
On spot verification, Premchand disclosed that he joined KYKL in 2003 through one Sanjit, a KYKL activist, and underwent training at Khongjon in Chandel district of Manipur under army no 332 of the outfit, the SP said.
The SP further informed that the combined force also apprehended one PULF activist later identified as Md Irshad Ali (25) s/o Md Like Ali of Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai from his own locality while conducting frisking and checking operation at around 8.30 am today.
On spot verification, Md Irshad Ali disclosed that he joined PULF this year through one Md Farooque of PULF.
On the other hand, Commandos of Imphal West District reportedly arrested one PREPAK activist from Singjamei Chingamakhong acting on a credible information at about 9.45 am today.
Identifying the arrested PREPAK activist as one Kshetrimayum Ibomcha Singh alias Ibungo (33) s/o Ksh Ibohalbi Singh of Mayang Langjing Tamang, SP of Imphal West District Clay Khongsai said that n preliminary interrogation, Ibomcha disclosed that he is working under the command of one Jameson of PREPAK.
The SP further informed that the Commandos of Imphal West District Police also arrested another PREPAK activist identified as Sorokhaibam Romichandra Singh alias Abung alias Roshan (24) s/o S Yaiskul Singh of Nongren Maning Leikai from the eastern side of Heirangoithong bridge at around 5.45 am yesterday.
On preliminary interrogation, Romichandra disclosed that he is working under Jameson of PREPAK, the SP added.
In another statement , SP Clay Khongsai that one more PREPAK activist identified as Akoijam Sarat Singh (45) s/o Ak Kulla Singh of Iroisemba Mayai Leikai was arrested by Imphal West District Police Commandos from Thangal Bazar ear Jallal Provision acting on a credible information at around 4.55 pm yesterday.
On preliminary interrogation, Sarat disclosed that he joined PREPAK in 2005 through one Loken Singh alias Jackson of PREPAK and now working under his command in finance section of the outfit, the SP said.
In yet another statement made available to the press, SP of Imphal West District Clay Khongsai informed that acting on credible information, Imphal West District Police Commandos arrested one UNLF activist identified as Chanam Ibomcha alias Khongdum alias Devadas alias Khongthan (32) s/o Ch Bira Singh of Ishak Mamang Leikai (army no.188 of 28 batch of UNLF) from Dharmasala near Calcutta Hardware, Thangal Bazar during frisking and checking operation at around 11.50 am today.
On preliminary interrogation, Ibomcha disclosed that he joined UNLF under one S/S Major Puyani.
While at about 4.45 pm today, Imphal West District Police Commandos also arrested one KCP activist who was later identified as Lourembam Suresh Singh alias Machingouba (25) s/o L Tomba Singh of Singjamei Liwa Lambi Oinam Leikai from Khoyathong Pukhri Mapal.
The SP also informed that about the arrest of two active members of UNLF who came in a Maruti car bearing registration no.MN-02/5769 from Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak during frisking and checking duty at around 8.10 am yesterday.
Identifying the two arrested UNLF members as Nongmaithem Prasad alias Pasha Singh (40) s/o Late N Pahari Singh of Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak Machin and Usham Jadumani alias Raju (52) s/o U Kanglen Singh of Taothong Mayai Leikai, the SP said that on preliminary interrogation, they disclosed that there were working under one SS Lt Langamba Mangang of UNLF and they were assigned to contract works for party fund.
Two mobile phones and the Maruti car have been seized from them.
