The JAC against the declaration of wanted tag on former JCILPS convener Khomdram Ratan and for implementation of ILPS has warned of sustaining its agitation if the Govt fails to withdraw the wanted tag on Kh Ratan and the FIR filed against him at the earliest.
Addressing reporters today at Khongman Mangjil, convener of the JAC, Kh Subhaschandra expressed gratitude to the public for extending cooperation towards the success of the 48 hours bandh from June 22 midnight.
The success of the bandh was an indication that the genuine demands got the support of the mass, he said.
Saying that the JAC and JCILPS are not different, Subhaschandra said the JAC will continue to support the JCILPS in whatever steps it takes.
The press meet was organised after a sit-in and other forms of demonstration like forming of human chain from Moirangkhom to Khongman Bashikhong under the aegis of JCILPS.
To demand withdrawal of wanted tag on Kh Ratan, different Govt offices in Imphal East including Bashikhong SDC office, Sericulture office, Sangaipat were locked by protesters, Subhaschandra said.
He further affirmed that the stir will continue until the withdrawal of the wanted tag on Kh Ratan.
Meanwhile, Uripok Sorbon Thingel Apunba Meira Paibi, Langol Ningthou Leikai Meira Paibi and Warok Leikai Langol Meira Paibi jointly staged a protest demonstration at Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leikai demanding the release of Tourangbam (O) Tarini, withdrawal of wanted tag on former JCILPS convener Khomdram Ratan and implementation of ILPS.
Tarini began her indefinite hunger strike on May 9 following an assault by police personnel on May 8 at Uripok Sorbon Thingel.
She was arrested on the third day of fasting and was kept at JNIMS security ward on charge of attempting to commit suicide.
Tarini's hearing on June 8 was deferred till June 22 as the Judge was not present.
On June 22, again, the hearing was deferred citing lack of security escorts, Langol Ningthou Ningol Meira Paibi member Thokchom Keinahanbi said.
Demanding stern action against the police personnel involved in the assault and immediate release of Tarini, she said more protests will be launched in case the State Government fails to address their demands.
The protesters also demanded withdrawal of wanted tag on Ratan and implementation of ILPS.
Sit-in protests demanding implementation of ILPS were staged at different places along the Bamon Leikai to Okram Chuthek stretch of the road.
The protesters later formed a human chain along the road stretch and shouted slogans demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
