Arms, ammo recovered

A number of arms, ammunition and bombs were recovered during a search operation carried out by a combined team of 4 Mahar Regiment and Yaingangpokpi police station in the jungle of Phaipijang hill range of Urangpat, Imphal East under Yaingangpokpi police station.
Acting on specific information, a combined team of 4 Mahar Regiment and Yaingangpokpi police station carried out a massive search operation in Phaipijang hill range using sniffer dogs starting from 8 am today.
In the course of the search operation, a number of arms, ammunition and bombs were found buried underground.
The recovered items included one modified sniper rifle with telescopic sight, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, five high explosive hand grenades, two walkie talkie sets, five bipod mounted pompi guns, two heavy tin stabilised projectiles, one hand fired pompi gun, three large pompi bombs, eight small pompi bombs, 11 live rounds of sniper rifle, seven live rounds of 7.62 ammunition, eight live rounds of 5.56 ammunition and four live rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
The recovered arms, ammunition and bombs were seized on the spot by observing necessary formalities and handed over to Yaingangpokpi police station for further investigation and necessary legal procedure, said sources.
Two INSAS rifles, one 51mm mortar, two INSAS magazines, 22 live rounds of 9mm, sis misfired rounds of INSAS rifle, one misfired round of AK rifle, three carbine magazines, two 9mm magazines, three bulletproof jackets without plates, two pompi guns, three country made IEDs, two country made hand grenades, one carbine gun, three pompi rounds were also surrendered before Moreh police station among others.
