ISG conference kicks off

A two-day mega conference of the Indian Society of Gastro-enterology (ISG), North East Chapter commenced today at Hotel Classic Grande.
Hosted by the Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (ILDS), the first day of the conference saw many distinguished doctors presenting papers on liver and gastro diseases, and their treatment methods.
Briefing media persons about the conference, its organising secretary and ILDS Director Dr N Surajkumar who is also a Gastroenterologist said that it is the first time a mega conference on gastro and liver diseases is being held at Imphal.
Faculty members of the country's most advanced institutes of gastroenterology are participating in the conference.
Distinguished doctors from All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), AIG Hyderabad, Max Hospital, Tata Memorial Centre Mumbai etc are participating in the conference, he said.
Claiming that nearly 90 per cent of the country's gastroenterologists are taking part in the conference, Dr N Surajkumar said that the conference is a very big one.
Expressing jubilation on successfully hosting the mega conference at Imphal even though the State is quite disturbed at the moment, he exuded confidence that ILDS will be able to host similar conferences in future too.
He said that many doctors, physicians, MD students and MS students of the State are also participating in the conference.
Many experienced doctors and gastroenterologists are sharing their rich experiences at the conference and it will be a huge contribution toward treatment of gastro and liver diseases in the State, he said.
He informed that a live endoscopic conference would be held at ILDS Hospital soon.
