Imphal, April 26 2026:
The All-Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has strongly and unequivocally condemned violence and killing of innocent civilians amid escalating tension in parts of Manipur.
The people of "our strife-tom State" have been reeling under violent social unrest and suffering untold miseries beyond measure.
"Enough is enough! Such acts of violence are not only inhuman but strike at the very foundation of our shared humanity, dignity and coexistence," AMCO said in a statement.
The loss of precious lives of any community can never be justified under any circumstance, and it deepens wounds that take generations to heal, it said, expressing "heartfelt condolences and deepest sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims of the violence" .
"Their grief is a collective grief, and their suffering calls for our unified moral response," AMCO added.
Appealing to all conflicting communities to exercise restraint, AMCO said attacks on villages, homes, and properties only perpetuates a cycle of hatred and retaliation.
Burning houses, destroying livelihoods, and displacing families will not bring resolution.
It will only deepen the wounds and widen division and prolong suffering, it said.
"Violence erodes trust.
Only an act of restraint rebuilds hope.
Let us stand together to reject violence in all its forms and work collectively towards justice, healing, and lasting peace!" AMCO said.
It also appealed to all the Central security forces, especially the Assam Rifles, whose motto is the Friends of the Hill People not to be biased.
It urged the forces to maintain equality and neutrality in discharging their sacred duties without partiality.
AMCO further called on all community leaders, civil society organisations, and all right-thinking individuals of good will to rise above anger and choose the path of peace, dialogue, and reconciliation.
