Naga CSOs head for tripartite talk

Senapati, September 25 2026: A team of Naga civil organisations led by the United Naga Council (UNC) left Senapati this morning for a proposed tripartite talk in Assam.

Notably, the UNC has been insisting on a four-point charter of demands including abrogation of Suspension of Operation agreement with all Kuki militant groups, immediate arrest and prosecution of those involved in the abduction and subsequent killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians, declaration of the KNF (P) group as a terrorist organisation and immediate removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the position of Deputy Chief Minister.

The tripartite talk will be participated by delegations from the Ministry of Home Affairs, State Home Department and Naga CSOs.

According to a letter from Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Home), N Ashok Kumar addressed to UNC president Ng Lorho, the tripartite talk is scheduled at 11 am on September 26 at BSF FTR Headquarters, Garbhanga FV, Assam.

The proposed tripartite talk will discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the State and related peace building measures, sources said.

More than 10 delegates representing the United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women's Union (NWU), Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Rongmei Naga Council (RNC), Joint Tribe Council, Manipur (JTC-M) and Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO) were reported to have gone to attend the tripartite talk.

If the talk cannot achieve any breakthrough, Naga people are ready to move ahead with more stringent democratic agitation in near future, sources in the UNC said.
