Imphal, January 25 2026: The Joint Tribe Council Manipur (JTCM) has handed over two Kuki individuals to Assam Rifles today.

According to a handing over and receipt letter shared to the press, JTCM handed over the Thang-kham/Bella Vaiphei (40) s/o S Thangkholun Vaiphei of Sumtukphai, Churachandpur and Letkhongam Kilong (30) s/o Haolenthang Kilong of Sadar Joute, Kangpokpi to 6th Assam Rifles, Tamenglong headquarters.

The handing over and receipt letter signed by JTCM General Secretary Dr Aku Newme, co-convenor KC Savio and 6th AR Tamenglong Commanding Officer Navjot Rekhi did not say how and when the two individuals came into the custody of JTCM .

Nonetheless, the letter said, "This custody is being transferred to the Assam Rifles as no rightful representation from the offenders' community or union came forward to assume responsibility" .

According to the letter, both the men were in good health at the time of their transfer to the Assam Rifles.

It added that the JTCM has no further claim or complaint against them as a separate agreement regarding their 'admitted violations' has been duly executed.
