Imphal, September 24 2024:
Four civil organisations of Tousem Sub-Division have declared an indefinite total shutdown of National Highway 37 within Tousem Sub-Division jurisdiction, starting from today's midnight (September 24) .
A joint statement issued by Tousem Headquarters Students' Union (THSU), Tousem Area Students' Organisation (TASO), Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) and Chramram Segment Voice (CVV) said that the shutdown was in response to the 'Government's failure to address their demand to reallocate the SDO office in Tamenglong District Headquarters to Tousem Sub-Division.
The organisations said that they decided to impose the shutdown as the Government didn't pay any attention to the 30 day ultimatum they had served to address the issue.
They said that the shutdown will continue until the Govt fulfils the demand.
While essential services such as medical emergencies, education, electrical and fire services will be exempted, the organisations warned that any disturbance or untoward incidents that occur during the shutdown period will be the sole responsibility of the Govt.
