Five days total shutdown winds up

The Moirang Kendra Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup has called off the total shutdown enforced since April 19.The shutdown, called to condemn the Tronglaobi incidents of April 7 and demanding justice for the victims killed, was enforced successfully with large public participation.
It (shutdown) will end at midnight, said the Meira Paibi Lup's president K Padamabati today.
Addressing a press meet held at Phubala, Padamabati said the Lup appreciates the public and civil society organisations for extending their cooperation and support in enforcing the shutdown.
Even as the shutdown has been called off, she said, the Government has time till April 25 to come to a resolution with the families of the Tronglaobi victims.
If an agreement is not reached by the given time, the public, Meira Paibi Lups and civil society organisations will continue democratic forms of agitation, she said.
The press meet was attended by representatives of many Meira Paibi Lups and civil bodies from different comers of the valley.
Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal Meira Paibi secretary Th Sushila, Malem Nupi Khunai Association president W Hema, Kakwa Apunba Lup secretary Ksh Medha.
Khongman Mangjil Meira Lamjing Lup secretary Brahmacharimayum Naobi, Haoreibi Apunba Meira Paibi Lup convenor Ningombam Shyama among others were present in the press meet.
Two children were killed in a bomb attack carried out by suspected Kuki militants in Tronglaobi on
April 7 .
Three civilians were later killed on the same day in CRPF firing on protesters.
