Imphal, November 22 2025:
In a heartwarming and noble gesture, State Teacher awardee Nongmeikapam Dhamen donated Rs 50,000 which he received as a part of his award, to the management of his school.
The award was given by the Education Department.
Dhamen, who teaches at Shamusang Shantipur Upper Primary School, handed over the amount during a felicitation ceremony organised in his honour at the school today.
Some meritorious students were also felicitated during the ceremony which was attended by Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken and Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Dhamen said that students need to be nurtured right from the primary level to build a strong foundation for their future.
He also emphasised that shaping the career and future of students requires active support and cooperation from parents as well.
Parents should not force their children into specific professions or streams, but respect their choices, Dhaman added.
Kh Loken, on the other hand, stated that the education system in Manipur will significantly improve if more teachers dedicate themselves to the holistic development and welfare of their students.
To a media query, Loken stated that MLAs from Constituencies along Mayai Lambi will soon convene a meeting to discuss the deplorable condition of the road and to collectively mount pressure on the authorities concerned for its immediate repair.
He also alleged that the authorities appear to be deliberately delaying the repair of the road despite the severe hardships faced by the people.
