Imphal, August 21 2024:
The indefinite bandh imposed by the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) on NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway), Leimatak Project road and Tongjei Maril road has been suspended.
The RNCM imposed an indefinite bandh on the three roads since August 18 midnight demanding amalgamation of Kharam, Kom, Chiru, Aimol and Rongmei villages of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts with Noney district.
Chief Minister held a meeting with representatives of Chiefs Association Churachandpur & Kangpokpi Foothills, RNCM, Rongmei Youth Organisation Manipur and Rongmei Naga Lu Phuam, Manipur last night.
The Chief Minister reportedly assured the Rongmei CSOs that their demand would be translated into action.
Following the Chief Minister's assurance, the RNCM suspended their bandh last midnight.
RNCM advisor Lungaiseng Thaimei said that they would launch more intense agitation if the Chief Minister's assurance is not fulfilled.
With the bandh suspended, loaded trucks and tankers stranded on NH-37 have started moving toward Imphal.
