Strongly condemning the killing of two Tangkhul Naga men along the Litan-TM Kasom stretch on April 18, the Naga People's Union Imphal (NPUI) and All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) are set to organize a candlelight vigil on April 23 from 6.30 pm at Mao Market in Dewlahland.
The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club today.
Speaking to the media, M Ngaranmi, president, NPUI also condemned the alleged disruption/intervention of the mass solidarity prayer programme held at T Khullen by the Kangpokpi police force and Kuki miscreants on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, Th Angteshang, president, ANS AM questioned what he called "bias action" by the security forces, alleging that they were working together with Kuki miscreants.
He also condemned the disruption, stating that it violates Naga customary law.
The ANSAM president further accused the security forces of destroying properties belonging to Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA).
He described the action as a direct challenge to the Naga community and an affront to the question of peace.
He has urged all communities to respect each other's customary laws during this sensitive time.
The organising committee of the candlelight vigil has appealed to every Naga leader, villager, Church leader, CSO, women's group and the public to take part in the programme and extend their solidarity.
