CCpur, January 21 2016:
The JAC
against the 'anti-tribal Bill' has
today condemned vandalising
of banners containing images
of the nine tribal martyrs at
Kangvai saying it has never
acted against any community in
its 143 days of agitation and fail
to understand why the banners
put up by them and other tribal
organisations could be so
offensive.
The JAC abhors and con-
demns the high-handed and
atrocious behaviour of the
bandh supporters of the Joint
Committee Tiddim from
Bishnupur district who were
involved in venturing beyond
their district boundary into
tribal territory on the night of
January 20, 2016 and tearing
down various banners dis-
playing the images of the nine
'Tribal Martyrs' at Kangvai
village, said the committee in
a statement today.
The statement also noted
that the JAC fails to fathom
the actions of Bishnupur po-
lice commandos towards the
hapless tribal civilians caus-
ing serious injury to many
including a pregnant woman
who was allegedly hit with an
iron rod by the police com-
mandos.
'The JAC formed against
the three anti-tribal bills has
never acted against any com-
munity in its 143-days old
agitation till date and fails to
understand why the images of
the nine Tribal Martyrs put
up by the JAC and various
other tribal groups at Kangvai
could be so offensive to any-
one.
The JAC also fails to
comprehend why the sup-
porters of a bandh organised
in a valley district could ven-
ture beyong their jurisdiction
into a neighbouring tribal dis-
trict and create havoc and
chaos and vandalise the dis-
play put up by tribal people
to voice the grievance they
have against the Manipur
Government,' it added.
Even as it condemned the
behaviour and atrocious actions of the JC Tiddim bandh supporters as well as
that of the Bishnupur police commandos, the JAC made an appeal
to one and all to refrain from such heinous acts in order to avoid any
unwanted confrontations and untoward incidents in future.
