Imphal, May 18 2026:
Taking serious note of the finger of accusation pointed at the NSCN (IM) and the ZUF (Kamson group) by the Kuki Inpi, Manipur just two hours after the dastardly killings of three Thadou Church leaders on May 13, the United Naga Council today asserted that this is the same tactic the Kukis have used in the clash with the Meiteis since the evening of May 3, 2023 .
Elaborating, the UNC said that the KIM's condemnation of the massacre of the three Thadou Church leaders came out just two hours after the incident and it was dated May 6, 2026 .
There has not been any corrigendum about the date given 7 days ahead of the actual incident, said UNC and added that this shows that it was drafted well in advance and released almost immediately after the assassination.
Now KIM should furnish concrete proofs in the public domain about the complicity of the Nagas in the assassination of the three Thadou Church leaders, said UNC .
UNC also came out strongly against the conduct of the Indian security forces in the hostage taking incident immediately after the assassination.
The 57 Mountain Division at Leimakhong is located within a 2 km radius of Konsakhul and Leilon Vaiphei villages and they could have easily acted on time to go after the kidnappers, it added.
The Kuki SoO groups must be immediately disarmed and confined to their designated camps to stop their crimes against the Meiteis and the Nagas, demanded UNC .
Referring to the statement issued by the Thadou Inpi, Manipur, UNC said that one of the killed Rev Vumthang Sitlhou stood for Thadou identity and recalled the warning issued by the KLA (L)'s warning to the Kuki-Zo people not to meet the Chief Minister of Manipur at Churachandpur on May 15 .
The place where the three Thadou Church leaders were killed is a Kuki dominated place and infiltration by non-SoO groups is not possible, added UNC .
Going further, UNC said that a tax collection entry gate of the KRA/KNO is just one kilometre from the ambush site and is near an Army/AR post.
It is the KRA/KNO which operate in the said area.
UNC also recalled the cold blooded killing of Thadou leader Nehkam Jomhao on August 30, 2025 .
The non-involvement of non Kuki groups in the killings of the three Thadou Church leaders is beyond any doubt, said UNC and added that there are voices which have emerged against the wild allegations hurled by KIM .
