Imphal, December 17: With the basic objective of finding ways and means to save the ever degenerating education system in the State, the Manipuri Students' Federation is set to organise a seminar cum discussion programme from January 4 to 6, next year.

Speaking to reporters today at MSF head office, its president S Sanjoy and advisor Ph Nando also appealed to all academicians and teachers and all concerned to prepare a paper each on the subject.

They also mentioned that the year long 'Let's Learn Properly' campaign was launched at the Centenary Hall, Manipur University on February 9 and 10 this year with the aim to bring the education system of Manipur on the right track.

The proposed seminar would be a follow up of the ongoing academic campaign, said Sanjoy.

For the three day seminar, officials of the Depts of Edn (U), Edn (S), MPSC, CHSEM, BSEM, SCERT, teachers and academicians of MU and Anganwadi teachers would be invited.

Even as teachers and academicians have repeatedly acknowledged that there is a serious flaw in the education system, no one has suggested any corrective measure till date, observed the MSF president.

After serious consultations with the noted educationists and scholars, MSF felt the necessity to organise the seminar in order to find out some remedial measures.

Even as MU was upgraded to a central University, the MU authorities seemed to be more interested in contract works rather than ensuring a peaceful academic atmosphere and pursuing quality education, rued MSF advisor Ph Nando.

He further asserted that the A-Block of MU is engaging most of the time in corrupt activities instead of working for welfare of the students.

Observing that the Health Centre and the Museum located within MU premises have deteriorated, Nando lamented no one has taken up the matter concerning shifting of the AR camp from the University premises.

He also questioned whether location of AR camp within the campus of the State's highest centre of learning was not detrimental to the academic atmosphere of the institution.

Taking serious note of the impasse over the issue of Die-In-Harness scheme in MU, Nando asked the authority concerned to declare its position soon whether or not the scheme would be implemented in MU.

He asked the authority not to keep the matter undecided with the intention to indulge in bribery and corruption.

The proposed seminar would also deliberate on frequent cases of mistakes in setting questions on the part of MPSC, CHSEM, BSEM besides studying in detail whether Art College, Dance College and SCERT are functioning properly.

Moreover, it will also discuss whether Anganwadi children are getting the facilities entitled to them besides checking if the facilities extended to OBC, SC and ST students concerning their education are provided accordingly.

After the three day long seminar cum discussion session, MSF would devise some remedial measures for the flawed education system of Manipur, informed Nando and Sanjoy.

The MSF leaders further appealed to all the Departments concerned and officials to prepare a white paper/report of the previous years in advance.
