Imphal, May 15 2024: A 23 year old man was found dead at Thoubal Hospital less than 12 hours after he was abducted from Lilong by a group of unknown miscreants while another person who was abducted along with him is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.

Reportedly, the bodies of both the deceased and the injured bore marks of severe assault/torture.

It is said that the two youths were abducted from Lilong Awang Leikai at gunpoint by a group of unknown miscreants who came in a four wheeler vehicle at around 5 pm yesterday.

One of them was brought dead at Thoubal Hospital early in the morning while the other is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity.

The deceased has been identified as Md Jahir Khan alias Atomba (23), s/o of Md Nasimuddin while the person who was abducted along with him is Md Farid Khan alias Boycha (20), s/o Md Hafijuddin.

Both of them are residents of Keibung Mathak Leikai in Thoubal.

A JAC has been formed in connection with the murder and they have served a 48 hour ultimatum to the Government to arrest the killers.

A sit-in protest was also staged at Keibung Mayai Leikai against the killing of Jahir Khan, during which the protesters urged the Government to book the killers and also give assistance in the treatment of Md Farid Khan.

They said that they will agitate if their demands are not entertained within 48 hours.

Speaking to the media, convenor of the JAC Md Sahid Khan said that the kidnappers called the parents of Jahir Khan and his friend Md Farid last night at around 8 and agreed to hold a talk in the morning today.

Saying that the security guard at Thoubal Hospital however called the parents of Jahir Khan and informed them that he was brought dead at the hospital at around 3 am today while Farid is undergoing treatment, he added that both Jahir Khan and Farid Khan were found brutally assaulted.

Farid was transferred to Raj Medicity as his injuries were severe, he added.
