NPF intends to contest in 15 ACs

Senapati, December 14 2021: The Naga People's Front, Manipur State Unit (NPF-MSU) has declared its intent to field around 15 candidates in the upcoming 12th Mani-pur Legislative Assembly elections, 2022 .

This was stated by the General Secretary (Admin) of the NPF-MSU in Senapati.

During an exclusive interview in Senapati district, Honreikhui Kashung, NPF-MSU General Secretary (Admin) stated that a meeting of NPF-MSU was held on November 29 last.

Subsequent upon the meeting, the party started issuing applicants forms from December 6 to those who have been seeking party tickets.

Issuance of applications forms will close on December 15 at 4 pm, he said.

NPF intends to contest in 15 ACs

Till date, the party has reportedly received 35 applications from 11 different Assembly Constituencies.

Adding that the NPF-MSU intends to field some 15 candidates, Honreikhui also informed that the party ticket committee and the party authority will decide which applicants are eligible for the party tickets in the near future.

It may be noted that NPF-MSU was first introduced to the Manipur State Legislative Assembly in the year 2012 with the election of 4 MLAs.

Another 4 MLAs from NPF were elected in the next election held in 2017 and the party is a partner of the incumbent BJP-led coalition Government.

The party has also two Ministers in the Council of Ministers.

Earlier, Awangbow Newmai, Minister, Forest, Environment and Climate Change & Sericulture who also holds the post of NPF-MSU president had stated that the NPF is hopeful to win double digit seats in the next Assembly elections slated for early next year.
