Imphal, February 14 2012:
With regard to two polling stations in Andro AC where photographs of voters taken on polling day did not come out, Congress candidate Ahmad Ali and his agent Basir Khan have alleged that the goof-up was deliberately engineered by rival Trinamool Congress candidate Th Shyamkumar in cahoots with the RO concerned.
Further alleging that TC supporters indulged in proxy voting in some polling stations of the constituency, they appealed to the authorities concerned to conduct re-poll in the particular polling stations.
Speaking to media persons at Hatta Golapati today, Ahmad Ali and Basir Khan said that Th Shyamkumar and his supporters indulged in proxy voting in 10 polling stations.
A complaint was lodged with the CEO in this regard on January 31 .
Acting on the complaint, the CEO issued a notice and checked whether there was proxy voting or not in the office complex of Imphal East DC on February 13 .
On verification, it was found that photographs of voters taken on polling day at polling stations no 7/13 and 7/25 turned out to be blank even as 597 and 747 voters cast their votes in the two polling stations respectively.
They said that polling station no 7/25 was the home polling station of Th Shyamkumar and it recorded that 91.9 poll percentage.
In polling station no 7/14 too, photograph of only one voter came out while photographs of all other voters turned out to be blank, Ahmad Ali and Basir Khan said.
All this deceitful acts are clear indications that the TC candidate and his supporters indulged in extensive malpractices.
It is possible that Th Shyamkumar in cahoot with the RO erased all the photographs taken on polling day in order to cover up their malpractices.
