Imphal, June 13 2025:
Eramdam Kanba Lup (EKAL) observed 2nd Remembrance Ceremony or Ningshing Thouram of 10 Meetei youths massacred by Kuki terrorists in the Khamenlok clash on June 13, 2023.Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeswar, who attended the ceremony held at Nongshum community hall Friday, strongly called for politicians irrespective of party affiliation and CSOs to sit together and shoulder responsibilities to save the state while expressing suspicious strategy of the Government of India vis-a-vis the present crisis in Manipur.

Former chairman of United National Liberation Front (UNLF) RK Meghen (Sanayaima), who was one of the speakers at the ceremony, said the ongoing conflict in Manipur has a secret agenda to suppress revolutionaries fighting for restoration of the lost sovereignty of Manipur and also to balkanise Manipur, which the people should not be oblivious.
For more than two years, the Kukis and an unseen force backing them are attacking the Meeteis and everyone in Manipur is fully aware of who is nurturing Kuki armed groups under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement.
The reason behind Union home minister Amit Shah giving repeated assurance to keep intact the territorial integrity of Manipur is that the Government of India is well aware about potential consequences of distorting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Accordingly, all the indigenous communities of Manipur should have long vision of peaceful coexistence, he said.
Apart from MLA Lokeswar and RK Meghen, the ceremony was also attended by Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha, former ICHAM president N Rajendro, families of the martyrs and representatives of COCOMI, AMUCO, FOCS, Thawai Mirel, Taragi Cheisu.
Meira Paibis from different parts of the state also took part in the ceremony and offered floral tributes to portraits of the martyrs.
EKAL advisor Ningthoukhongjam Sanatomba said that the remembrance ceremony was conducted to showcase that people are with those who sacrificed their lives for Manipur and more people will emerge to follow in the footsteps of the martyred youth to protect the motherland.
He said that people do not believe in Centre's efforts to resolve the crisis by calling and holding talks with CSO leaders.
The Centre can easily resolve the crisis if they wish, he said and expressed suspicion if the Centre is playing a policy to prolong the conflict.
