Imphal, June 13 2024:
Strongly denouncing the alleged divisive policy of the Government of India, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has stated that it would always protest such divisive policies.
AMUCO saw the cease fire extension agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN(IM) on June 14, 2001 as an attempt to fragment the people of Manipur.
As such, AMUCO has been observing June 14 as Protest Day Against the Divisive Policy of Government of India since many years back.
Unlike the previous years, there would not be public meetings on June 14 this year in view of the State's prevailing situation, AMUCO said in a press release.
However, there would be no change to AMUCO's stand to protest and stand up against all sinister policies of the Government of India, it said.
Apart from poisoning the cordial relationship shared among different communities of the State, the Government of India has been persecuting the people of Manipur all these years, it alleged.
The Government of India's diabolic policies are becoming clearer and clearer.
As a result, people's anger has been only growing, it said.
The phrase 'without territorial limits' was deliberately inserted in the cease fire extension agreement signed on June 14, 2001 at Bangkok with a sinister intention to ignite communal violence in the State.
Yet, there was no communal violence as AMUCO and the people of Manipur understood the Government of India's hidden agenda, it said.
The people who protested vehemently against any threat to the integrity of Manipur did not target any community, and it proved to be a serious disappointment to the Government of India, AMUCO said.
This time, the Government of India picked another community to ignite communal violence.
As a result, a protracted communal violence has been raging in the State since May 3, 2023, it continued.
The Government of India has so far shown no intention to stop the conflict anytime soon, rather they are taking the side of the particular community which it (Government of India) picked at the first place to ignite the communal violence, AMUCO remarked.
To the Government of India, fomenting communal tension and violence is the easy means to suppress insurgency.
To the Government of India, citizens' lives have no values when it comes to suppression of insurgency, it alleged.
