Governor leads in extending Aug 13 wishes

Imphal, August 12 2025: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Speaker Th Satyabrata and MLAs T Robindro and K Robindro have extended their greetings on the occasion of Patriots' Day 2025 .

In his message, the Governor paid tributes to the departed patriots who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891."Patriots' Day reminds us of the heroic deeds of our forefathers like Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, Chirai Naga, Pukhrambam Kajao and a host of other martyrs who fought valiantly to defend the sovereignty of Manipur," he said.

AK Bhalla continued that these patriots demonstrated supreme valour and fought against the British empire in 1891 even in the face of death and imprisonment.

The departed leaders believed in the freedom of their Nation and challenged the mighty empire, he said and wished the observation a grand success and a meaningful event.

Satyabrata said that August 13 marks a day that lives in 'our heart' as it is a day when courage stood taller than fear and love for 'our homeland' rose above all else.

Stating that Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General chose honour over surrendering during the Anglo-Manipur War, the Speaker appealed to every Manipuri to carry forward the legacy of the martyrs.

"Let this day deepen our connection as one Manipur, remind us of the resilience woven into our identity and renew our commitment to peace and pride in our heritage," he wished.

Thanga AC MLA T Robindro and Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro also conveyed their greetings and honoured the legacy of Manipur's freedom fighters.
