NIA takes over K Sinam ambush case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case of ambush carried out by unidentified militants on an advance security team of the Chief Minister at K Sinam village along Imphal-Jiribam highway on June 10, 2024 .
One security personnel and a civilian driver were injured in the attack.
The NIA filed an application before the Court of NIA Judge, Manipur today praying for handover of the case records from the investigating officer of New Keithelmanbi police station .
A Special PP of NIA submitted that NIA Branch Office, Imphal, Manipur has re-registered a case u/s sections 307, 326, & 34 of IPC, sec 16(1)(b) of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in compliance with directive issued by the Central Government on July 11, 2024, and it is necessary to obtain all the police records from the Investigating Officer of the FIR concerned registered at New Keithelmanbi police station.
The Special PP prayed the NIA Court to give the direction to the Court concerned to transfer all judicial dockets/case records and relevant documents to the Special NIA Court Manipur and direct the Investigating Officer of New Keithelmanbi police station, Kangpokpi district to hand over all the case related documents and seized materials/exhibits, if any, to the Chief Investigating Officer of NIA.
The NIA also submitted documents related to the FIR they have registered along with the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on July 11 before the Court.
The Court, on perusal of the application along with the relevant documents and after hearing the submission of the Special PP, allowed the NIA to take over the case.
The Court also requested Special Judge (NIA), Senapati to transfer all the judicial dockets/case records in connection with the FIR registered at New Keithelmanbi police station, if any, to the same Court on or before July 31, 2024 .
The Court further directed the IO of the particular FIR registered at New Keithelmanbi police station to hand over all the case related documents and seized materials/exhibits if any, to the NIA's Chief Investigating Officer of the case at the earliest.
Suspected Kuki militants made a daring attack on an advance security team of Chief Minister N Biren and inflicted injuries to a security personnel and one civilian driver of the security convoy on June 10 morning at K Sinam village, along Imphal-Jiribam highway, about 26 Kms away from Imphal.
One security personnel identified as Ershad Ushman Khan (30) s/o Sahadubbin of Minuthong Golapati Maning and driver Moirangthem Ajesh alias Bobo (32) s/o Shyamjai of Thanga Ngaram Leikai sustained bullet injuries in the attack.
