Ukhrul, November 11 2019: "One dose of JE vaccine can prevent and protect you from Japanese Encephalitis for your whole life", says Dr Kapangring CMO, Ukhrul while launching a month long JE vaccination campaign for Ukhrul district at Sacred Heart Hr Sec School (SHHSS) Hungpung, Ukhrul.

Manchung Shinglai, a local artiste, who attended the programme as a special guest and promoter for the JE vaccination campaign for Ukhrul district launched the month long vaccination campaign today in the presence of CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring, Officers from ICDS and ZEO office, medical staffs, health workers, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers.

Manchung entertained the crowd with her popular Tangkhul song "Theimimarou kikaji ka" to mark the commencement of the programme while Principal of SHHSS Rev Fr Mayopam convened a prayer session for smooth implementation of the programme.

Meanwhile, CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring enlightened the gathering about the severity of Japanese encephalitis (JE) sickness.

Mentioning that five cases of JE have been detected from Ukhrul district, Dr Kapangring stated that one dose of JE vaccine can protect and prevent any individual from being infected by the disease (JE).

He further urged the students to get vaccinated during the campaign.

According to a reports from District Hospital, 40,000 doses of JE vaccines have been issued for Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts.

Children from 1 year to 15 years would be given free vaccination in all health centres including Anganwadi centres from Nov 11 to 30 by the health workers of Ukhrul.

Over 200 students from SHHSS were vaccinated today.

The launching programme was organized by District Health Society, Ukhrul under the aegis of Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of Manipur.
