The All Jiribam United Clubs' Organisation has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting a number of grievances and drew his attention to better their lot.
Highlighting the acute shortage of drinking water at the sub-division, the memorandum said that the PHED has failed is supply-ing adequate water to the people.
Moreover the water tank installed at New Alipur has not been hygienically maintained and all the ring wells have dried up.
To help the people over come the problem of water shortage, the Club appealed to the CM to instal an overhead tank at an appropriate location.
Maintaining that Jiribam is the gateway for Manipur, the memorandum urged the CM to erect a State gate at the sub-divi-sion the foun-dation stone of which was laid during the tenure of W Nipamacha as the Chief Mi-nister, it noted, and urged the CM to do the needful.
The memorandum also app-ealed to the CM to imple- ment the plan to set up a sports complex at the ground of the All Jiribam Sports Assn.
The memo-randum further said that the one and only telephone exchange at Jiribam has broken down and telecom-munication link has been snapped.
The mobile ser-vice started by the BSNL was operational for a few days and has gone defunct now, it said ad urged the CM to take up necessary action to connect Jiribam with the rest of the world through land line and mobile tele-phone.
Copies of the memo- randum were submitted to ocal MLA Th Debendra, DC Imphal East and ADC Jiribam.
