Imphal, July 11 2021: Union Minister of Steel Ramchandra Prasad Singh, president of Janata Dal United (JDU) and MP Ramprit Madan, Manipur in-charge will visit the State to prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections early next year.

Maisnam Dorendro, general secretary and spokesperson of JDU Manipur, said this at a press conference held at JDU's office at New Checkon today and added that Ramchandra Prasad Singh, popularly known as RCP Singh, will be visiting the State after the end of the monsoon session of the Parliament slated to start from July 19 to discuss the preparation for the upcoming election.

Maisnam Dorendro added that Ramprit Madan will be visiting the State on July 23.He will inaugurate the JDU offices at Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kakching, Tengnoupal, Thoubal and Ukhrul during his 4 days visit.

RCP Singh will meet the party leaders and workers and work out a working plan for contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, he added.

A team of JDU Manipur led by State president T Hangkhanpao is at Delhi to meet RCP Singh.

RCP Singh is a 1984 batch IAS officer who joined politics after retiring in 2010 and has been a member of Rajya Sabha since then and was recently included in the Union Cabinet as Union Minister of Steel.

Replying to media persons, M Dorendro said even though JDU is part of National Democratic Alliance, JDU Manipur will contest the upcoming election in a friendly manner in most of the Constituencies.

JDU is also confident of winning a minimum of 14-15 seats in this election, he added.

Moirangthem Tombi, president of Shiv Sena, Manipur had visited the residence of Ramprit Madan in Madhuvani (Bihar) and offered to merge the Shiv Sena Manipur with JDU Manipur on the condition that he was made the State president but the National leader had told him to join first and discuss the terms later, Maisnam Dorendro told the media.

Maisnam Dorendro further said that JDU Manipur will warmly welcome all the ex MLAs and former Ministers who are willing to join the party but no demands for positions should be made.
