CM urges HM not to pass CAB in RS

Imphal, February 11 2019:
Amidst the massive protest seen in the State against CAB 2016, Chief Minister N Biren held a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at New Delhi today and urged him not to get the Bill passed in the Rajya Sabha.
A statement issued by the CM's Secretariat said that Biren was accompanied by Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu.
The two Chief Ministers explained the sentiments of the people of the North East, in particular Manipur, on the CAB and requested the Home Minister to not let the Bill be passed in Rajya Sabha, said the statement.
The two Chief Ministers apprised the Union Home Minister about the ongoing situation in the North East and in particular their respective States.
The meeting was also attended by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Home Secretary Rajeev Gauba and Director IB.
The Home Minister reassured that the Union Government stands with the people of the North East and will address all concerns related to the Bill.
On the other hand representatives of the all political parties met the Union Home Minister and general secretary and in charge of North East Ram Madhav and urged them not to let the Bill be passed in the Rajya Sabha.
