Imphal, July 10 2025: Unidentified armed persons fired two rounds in the air in front of the residential gate of Dr Kongjengbam Dhanachandra, retired Head of Department, Medicine JNIMS Hospital located at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai under Imphal police station this morning.

According to information culled from the spot, two unknown persons came up at the residential gate of Dr Kongjengbam Dhanachandra (67) s/o (L) Gourachandra at around 8.30 am and fired two rounds of bullets in the air using small arms.

They fled from the spot in a hurry and there was no report of any injury.

After getting information about the incident, a team of Imphal West Commandos and Imphal police station rushed to the incident site.

Imphal Police have also registered a case for investigation and necessary legal procedure.

On the other hand, an unknown person reportedly fired a single round of bullet in the air using small arms at Moiranghanuba Mayai Leirak, Imphal West under Lamphel police station at around 8.30 am today.

The incident took place at the residential gate of Soyam Dinesh (42) s/o Gopal of Moiranghanuba Mayai Leirak.

It is suspected that the incident might be related to monetary demand of an underground outfit Team of Lamphel Police rushed to the spot and inspected the site.

They have also registered a case for investigation and necessary legal procedure.
