Undaunted CM to go ahead with Jiri trip

Undaunted by the daring attack carried out by suspected Kuki militants against an advance security team today, Chief Minister N Biren would be visiting Jiribam tomorrow to take stock of the war-like situation unleashed by Kuki militants there.
Together with some of his Ministers and MLAs, Chief Minister N Biren would go to Jiribam by helicopter and he would make a direct assessment of the security situation.
After attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing in ceremony at Delhi yesterday, N Biren arrived at Imphal this afternoon.
In connection with the Chief Minister's scheduled visit to Jiribam on Tuesday, a large number of security forces left Imphal for Jiribam this morning.
Even as one civilian driver of the security convoy sustained injuries when they were attacked by suspected Kuki militants between K Sinam and T Laijang village along Imphal-Jiribam highway, a large number of security forces have reached Jiribam, sources informed.
Chief Minister N Biren would hold a review meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam and top officers of Manipur Police on the security situation of Jiribam once he reaches Jiribam tomorrow, said the sources.
He would also visit the family of Soibam Saratkumar who was murdered mercilessly by Kuki militants on June 6 .
N Biren would also interact with the displaced people currently taking shelter in the relief camp opened at Jiribam Sports Complex whose houses have been burnt down by Kuki militants.
The Chief Minister was in Delhi to attend the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the third term in a row and the Council of Ministers.
