Imphal, January 09 2017: Lone BJP MLA Thongam Bishwajit has stated that Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is desperate for the post of Chief Minister has become hysterical.

Reacting to the Deputy Chief Minister's different statements published in different sections of the media recently, Bishwajit told media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today that Gaikhangam is one of the three Congress representatives who are desperate to take over the Chief Minister's post.

But he is also aware that there would not be any more Congress Government in the State.

That was why, he was mouthing a volume of blatant lies, said the BJP MLA.

The massive recruitment drive carried out by the Congress Government was aimed at amassing huge amount of money for they know that they would not ever come back to power, Bishwajit said.

It was highly questionable whether the recruitment drives were carried out in the interest of public or in their personal interest.

Bishwajit who is also general secretary of BJP Manipur Pradesh remarked that recruitment of candidate(s) who did not appear in written tests and selection of candidates who were close to Ministers have become the talk of the day.

The BJP MLA expressed strong suspicion that appointment orders were issued after the election model code of conduct had come into effect by manipulating the dates of issuing the appointment orders.

Reacting to the Deputy Chief Minister's assertion that it looked like the economic blockade was imposed at the instigation of BJP and NSCN-IM, Bishwajit rubbished the allegations.

Such unrelated statement was unbecoming of a veteran politician, he decried.

If Congress leaders are convinced that BJP has nexus with NSCN-IM, they must give evidence and if they cannot give evidence, they should keep quiet.

The BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has already declared that blockades are illegal and unconstitutional.

The Central Government also sent a large number of Central forces to assist the State Government.

If the State Government cannot open the National Highways in spite of the large number of forces sent by the Central Government, they should step down, Bishwajit said.

Had the Congress leaders rushed to Delhi on the issue of the protracted economic blockade just as they did when they suspected something was coming from the Centre, people would have certainly appreciated them.

It was rather disheartening that some Congress leaders were making irresponsible statements which only created confusion and division among the masses.

Bishwajit said that he and the BJP Manipur Pradesh president took part in the party's National executive meeting held recently.

Informing that they also met many Central leaders, the BJP MLA stated that the Central Government was working hard to get the economic blockade lifted.

Meanwhile, a large number of trucks including oil tankers have reached Imphal from Jiribam.

While people have been standing in queues before oil pumps overnight for a few litres of fuel, the same is available abundantly in black markets.

One need to investigate the origin of the fuel sold in black markets, Bishwajit continued.

While rejecting the assumption that the Central Government intended to defer the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, Bishwajit asserted that BJP is ready to fight the election tomorrow itself.
