The Kangpat Khullen Village Authority has strongly condemned the cross border terrorist attack allegedly carried out by the Burma based KNA-B/PDF militants at Kangpat Choro, Namlee and Wanglee in Kamjong district in the early morning of May 7 .
In a press release, it has urged the Central and State Government to take up necessary security measures to take stock of cross-border terrorism, ensure that peace prevails and safety of the innocent citizens in the area is secured.
Expressing discontent with the conduct of the Central security forces, the Kangpat Khullen VA said that the 11th Bn Assam Rifles post located at Kangpat Choro is very close to the scene of the incident.
Many other security forces were also stationed at Nambisha, Ningreithi, Ashang Khullen and Kangpat Khullen - all in the vicinity of the Indo-Myanmar international border.
It expressed deep concern at the ability of Burma based armed militants to enter Indian territory, attack innocent people and destroy houses and markets despite the heavy presence of security forces in the region.
As the Prime Minister and Home Minister of India have repeatedly stated that cross-border terrorism will not be tolerated under any circumstances, the people expect immediate and thorough investigation into this serious incident, said the press release.
The Kangpat Khullen VA has urged the concerned authority of the State Government to urgently inform the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the attack to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens in vulnerable border areas at all costs.
Joining in, the Imphal East District United Club's Organisation (IEDUCO) has strongly condemned the cross-border attack and expressed grief over the arson of houses and injury to innocent civilians.
In a press release, IEDUCO has demanded immediate action from the State and Central Government to arrest and punish the KNA-B and PDF cadres allegedly responsible for the incident.
