Special status on CPI manifesto

Imphal, February 08 2022: The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has released its 36-point manifesto for the 2022 Assembly election, today with a primary focus on special status for Manipur .

Notably, CPI-MSC is a member of Manipur Progressive Secular Alliance (MPSA) which is a partnership of Congress and five Left parties.

The manifesto was released by the State secretary of CPI-MSC, L Sotinkumar at Irawat Bhavan complex.

Speaking at the event, L Sotinkumar said that the Left party will focus on solving the chronic issues of the State after emerging victorious in the election.

Saying that the Left party will pressure the Centre to amend Article 3 so as to ensure the territorial integrity of Manipur remains intact, and to bring uniform development in the State by allocating additional funds for the hill districts, Sotinkumar added that the CPI will also work on bringing logical conclusion for the boundary issues with Myanmar so as to facilitate good trade relations with the neighbouring country.

The CPI will also urge the Central Government to guard all the controversial Border Pillars at all times.

As per Sotinkumar, the manifesto of the CPI-MSC also include removal of AFSPA 1958, strengthening of Inner Line Permit System, deployment of Highway Protection Forces along National Highways 37 & 39, job creation, launching of a new scheme to give allowance of Rs 2,000 monthly to the unemployed youths, establishment of IT hub in all districts, implementation of Manipur People's Protection Bill, check disinvestment of public properties and invalidation of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act among others.

Further stating that the CPI will enforce Lokayukta to eliminate corruption, Sotinkumar continued that the Left party will surely fulfil its assurances .

He then urged all the electors to choose the candidates who will work in the interest of the State and her people.

Secretary of the Party election campaign committee M Joy Luwang also urged all the people of Manipur to take a strong resolution to defeat the party which undermined democracy on numerous occasions.
