Imphal, May 07 2026:
As Manipur continues to be on the boil with fresh attacks reported today, AMUCO, AMAWOVA, CoHR, MSF and PLMPAM have vehemently condemned the violence at the frontier villages of Namlee, Wanglee and Choro in Kamjong district where several homes were set ablaze and civilians injured.
Speaking to the media at AMUCO Office in Kwakeithel, president Sanjoy Sorokhaibam accused the Government of India (GoI) of disrespecting the people of Manipur as it remains inactive while the 3-year old conflict rages on with unfortunate incidents reported in different comers of the State.
The conflict has continued to persist because the GoI openly helps the Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) and non-SoO groups, he alleged.
Further accusing the Gol of scheming to eliminate the indigenous population in Manipur, the AMUCO president demanded an end to such destructive policy as well as their alleged proxy war and "State terrorism" .
Questioning if such a situation will be tolerated in other larger States of the country, he said the GoI's handiwork in Manipur has crossed the public's limit of endurance.
Laying pertinent questions before the GoI, Sanjoy Sorokhaibam asked if Indian law and Indian Constitution even exist in Manipur.
He further asked if a hint of the "largest democracy" is visible in the State.
As a prolonged crisis continues to ravage Manipur, he questioned what the Supreme Court and the Indian Administration had been doing.
On the other hand, the security forces who have been assigned to protect the citizens are present only in namesake, he opined.
There is no sense in deploying the State and Central Forces because they do not safeguard the people, he alleged.
It is time for the people to protect their land, declared Sanjoy Sorokhaibam.
