Imphal, March 07 2022:
President of the Naga People's Front, Tengnoupal Unit, Kh Leirung, has urged the Election Commission of India to either conduct a repoll across six polling stations of Tengnoupal Constituency where EVMs were vandalised or exclude the votes from the aforementioned polling stations from the overall count.
He further cautioned that if an order isn't issued to this effect at the earliest then NPF will launch a series of agitations including bandhs and blockades.
The above demands were made by the NPF Tengnoupal Unit president during a press conference held at their office today at Maringphai village in Tengnoupal district.
Addressing the media persons, he alleged that during the 2nd phase of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election on March 5, EVMs were smashed at six polling stations of Tengnoupal AC namely, 42/4 M Rimpang polling station, 42/13 Saibol polling station, 42/16 Machi (A) polling station, 42/18 Konaitong polling station, 42/42 Rilram Centre polling station and 42/43 Kambang Khullen polling station.
Upon further investigation into the matter, it was discovered that the BJP in collusion with the State security forces were behind these incidents of EVM smashing, As such, Kh Leirung appealed to the ECI to issue an order to either conduct a repoll across these six polling stations or exclude the votes from these polling stations from the overall count.
