Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Singh today flagged off a team of Manipur Police motorcycle riders from Manipur Police Headquarters, Mantripukhri, to participate in the National Motorcycle Rally organised in observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2026 .
The rally, being held under the theme "Fight Against Drugs", is organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India.
Addressing the gathering during the flag-off ceremony, DGP Mukesh Singh highlighted the importance of observing Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and informed the participants that rallies and motorcycle rallies from different States of the country would converge at Ekta Nagar in Narmada district, Gujarat, to celebrate Ekta Diwas.
Mukesh Singh said the rally would spread Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's message of National unity, integrity and collective strength.
It would also carry the message of motivating people across the country towards building a drug-free Nation, he said.
He said the participation of Manipur, which has been affected by the menace of drugs, assumes greater significance, adding that public support to the Manipur Police is essential in the fight against drugs.
The DG added that the Manipur Police had joined hands with security forces across the country to spread awareness and reinforce the message of a drug-free Nation.
Congratulating the team of riders, the DGP said their participation symbolised the commitment to National integration, discipline, teamwork and public service.
He said the riders would undertake a long and arduous journey across different States, from the eastern end to the western end of the country.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by senior police officials and personnel of the State and Central forces.
