Imphal, July 06 2026:
Former MLA Bijoy Koijam has refuted the allegations made by the proscribed PREPAK as false and baseless.
Speaking to media persons at his Konung Lampak residence today regarding the PREPAK's allegation that he was an agent of RAW and IB, Bijoy Koijam he never ever acted as an agent of anybody in his whole life.
He said that the PREPAK's allegations were portraying him in the wrong light.
Saying that does not see any revolutionary organisation as the enemy but rather respects all of them, the former MLA asserted that PREPAK made the allegations after it was misled by some people with vested interests.
He said that two hand grenades were lobbed at his Thongju Pheijaleitong residence on June 28 but no one claimed responsibility for the same.
"When I was working as a journalist before joining electoral politics, one UG group attacked my home with firearms and I suffered multiple bullet injuries.
As such, I did not take the act of lobbing hand grenades at my residence with much seriousness and I did not complain to police", he said.
Another hand grenade was hurled at his residence on July 4, and PREPAK came out claiming responsibility for the same along with an allegation that Bijoy Koijam is an agent of RAW and IB.
Bijoy Koijam said that he has been keeping some distance from politics after his defeat in the Assembly elections of 2012, and indulging in sports activities.
He said that he has been facing certain obstacles following his decision to join a regional party, instead of a National party, to fight the next State Assembly elections.
"The current situation is related to the internal election of a local party and the perception of some people that they will not be able to pursue their desires if I remain with the party", he said.
"Yet, I was elected as a member of the party's central committee with the help of Court", he added.
"A case is going on at a Court.
Once the case is settled and if the Court gives permission, I will join the party.
If not, I will stay away from the party", he added.
