Imphal, March 04 2025:
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has submitted a memorandum to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to remove all political posts including the Advocate General of the High Court of Manipur now that President's Rule (PR) is in force in Manipur.
Addressing the media at Congress Bhavan after submitting the memorandum, Md Rabi Khan, vice chairman of MPCC legal department and the spokesman of the party, said that most of the political posts at Commissions/Boards/Corporations/Undertakings who were appointed during the previous Manipur Government's term are still occupied.
He went on to say that the removal of political appointees during PR is a conventional practice to bring about a neutral administration.
BJP, Manipur Pradesh vice president is still the Chairman of Loktak Development Authority while many MLAs and members of the BJP continue to hold political posts at Planning Department, Manipur State Minority Commission and Manipur Pollution Control Board among others, he said and added that all these political appointees must step down as PR has been imposed in Manipur.
He also said that the Advocate General of the High Court of Manipur is a political appointee and as such he and his team should have resigned the day N Biren Singh resigned as the Chief Minister.
Urging the Governor to look into political appointees still occupying offices in the absence of a popular Government in Manipur, Rabi Khan cautioned misusing political posts can lead to an undesirable outcome.
The Governor had on February 22 urged the relevant authorities to submit the list of political appointees currently holding offices.
