Imphal, March 04:
With the exception of the ongoing board examinations, ceremonial pro grammes, essential services and undisturbed flight services normal activities were thrown out of gear owing to the day long bandh called by the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) today.
As inter-state and inter-district passenger bus operators ceased service and shops shut shutters market places in the capital city and some district headquarters were deserted.
Entertainment programmes also remained suspended.
The HSLC and HSSLC 2008 examinations, however were not disrupted with parents seen dropping and picking up their wards and school buses persisting with their services.
As pre-emptive measures especially on account of the ongoing Assembly session, security force personnel were deployed at strategic locations apart from mobile security teams fanning out to examination centres.
So far there is no report of any bandh-related incident.
The KCP (MC) enforced the bandh in observation of its 'Black Day' to mourn the death of its leader Baji Leibakmacha and his followers.
