Imphal, June 03 2024:
Six student organisations including MSF, DESAM, KSA, AIMS and SUK have asked all concerned not to hike prices of essential commodities.
Speaking to media persons on behalf of the six student organisations at the Khuyathong office of KSA today, DESAM general secretary N Thoithoiba pointed out that the people of Manipur have been suffering a lot on account of the recent flood.
It is a matter of grave concern that there are reports of prices of essential commodities like potato, dal, cooking oil, onion, garlic etc being hiked at a time when the people have been suffering untold misery, he said.
It is a fact that shopkeepers and traders too suffered losses on account of the flood but any intention or tendency to recuperate their losses by hiking prices of essential commodities is unacceptable, Thoithoiba said.
He also appealed to the Government to look into the matter and spare the suffering public from any extra burden.
Thoithoiba further appealed to the Government to ensure that there is uninterrupted flow of essential commodities to the State.
