PIB, CBC express deep grief over tragic deaths

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Imphal, have expressed profound grief over the tragic demise of Dr Engam Pame, Additional Director General, PIB & CBC Regional Office, Imphal; Nampibou Marinmai, Director ( News), DDK and All India Radio (AIR), Aizawl, and H Lianvela, Multi-Tasking Staff member, CBC, Aizawl, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident near Sateek in Mizoram on Thursday.
Dr Engam Pame was a senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer serving as Additional Director General, PIB & CBC Regional Office, Imphal.

He joined the PIB/CBC Regional Office, Imphal, on July 29, 2022, as Regional Director.
During his distinguished career, he had also served as Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Shillong, and had been associated with the Regional News Unit of Doordarshan Kendra, Imphal.
He was the Chairman of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC), Manipur Chapter, it said.
Born on November 30, 1967, Dr Pame made significant contributions to public communication and information dissemination, it added.
During his tenure at PIB and CBC, Imphal, he played an important role in strengthening coordination between the Government and the media fraternity and in facilitating the dissemination of information on government Golicies, programmes and initiatives, it said.
The statement continued that Nampibou Marinmai was also an IIS officer and was serving as Director (News), DDK and AIR, Aizawl.
He was Chairman of the Inter Media Publicity Coordination Committee (IMPCC) and had earlier served as Public Relations Officer with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
During his tenure with the Ministry of Defence, he was associated with defence-related public relations, media reporting and communication.
Through his long association with news and public broadcasting, the PIB said that Marinmai made valuable contributions to public communication and information dissemination.
Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Dr Engam Pame, Nampibou Marinmai and H Lianvela and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families, friends and colleagues.
Several senior officials of the Ministry and its attached organisations also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
They expressed solidarity with the families, friends and colleagues of the departed during this hour of immense grief.
The Ministry of Defence also mourned the demise of Nampibou Marinmai, recalling his services as Public Relations Officer (Defence) and his long-standing association with defence reporting.
Officials and staff of PIB, CBC and Akashvani, Imphal, observed a two-minute silence in memory of the departed souls and expressed their deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
They also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured driver and extended their support and solidarity to those affected by the tragedy.
Members of the media fraternity also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic demise of the three officials and staff members and paid tribute to their contributions to public communication, broadcasting and the media community. The entire information and broadcasting fraternity stands united in this hour of grief and extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
