Imphal, October 02 2010: AICC chief Sonia Gandhi has conveyed her deep condolences on the untimely demise of Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Dr Sapam Budhichandra Singh.

'This must be a most difficult time for you.

Please remember that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers', said Sonia Gandhi in her condolence message to the Speaker's better half, Sapam Ongbi Dr Tamubi Devi.

Led by president Gaikhangam, a team of MPCC handed over the message to Dr Tamubi today.

Describing Dr Budhichandra as a loyal soldier of the Party and recounting that he led by example for which many senior leaders valued his opinion and impartial decision making abilities, the AICC President also noted that Dr Budhichandra rose to the post of the Assembly Speaker due to his commitment, dedication to the cause of the people and high standards in public life.

Stating that Dr Budhichandra will not only be missed in Manipur but also at the Congress headquarters, Sonia termed his demise as loss of a dedicated party colleague.
