MANIREDA holds orientation programme

Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) organised a one day orientation and awareness programme on harnessing renewable sources and discussion on Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's schemes related to farmers at Arapti Awang Leikai in Imphal East today.
The inaugural session of the programme was graced by Arapti Urup Farmers' Association president Thongram Parijat, chairperson of Kiyamgei Muslim Arapti Gram Panchayat (administrative committee) W Birchandra and Senior Scientific Officer of MANIREDA Thangjam Babita as presidium members.
At the function predominantly attended by farmers, Babita presented a powerpoint highlighting different initiatives being taken up by MNRE to empower farmers through renewable energy solutions.
She said that the Government offers subsidies for installing grid-connected solar power plants ranging from 1 KW to 3 KW under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
She also said that the Government provides subsidies for procuring solar water pumping systems (1 BHP to 5 BHP) under the PM KUSUM scheme.
On biogas plants, Babita said that the Government has sanctioned 250 biogas plants with 25 of them already becoming operational.
Birchandra, on the other hand, said that Arapti, a village situated between Iril and Imphal Rivers, will excel in agriculture if programmes initiated by MANIREDA are implemented effectively.
