Imphal, August 01: At least seven activists of different armed organisations have been rounded up by security forces in the past 48 hours from various places of the State while an abducted driver has been rescued.

a statement issued by SP (Imphal East) Th Radheshyam informed of the district's police commandos arresting one NSCN (IM) cadre identified as Dinhenlung Longmei alias Abung (31) s/o Lungnihai Longmei of Khoupum Thanakhong in Tamenglong district from New Checkon at around 5.30 am today.

The rest of the arrests were effected yesterday including two KRA (U) cadres netted at around 4 pm by a frisking party of Thoubal police commandos from Waithou from whom rs 35,000 and one Hero Honda Pleasure (MN-06S/8526) had been recovered.

Identifying the arrested duo as Ahanthem Dinachandra Singh (53) s/o A Gourachandra Singh of Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai and Ms P Tabitha (34) d/o S Pamei of Numdulong, Stadium Road (Imphal), SP (Thoubal) Clay Khongsai also informed of the police commandos rounding up one KRA (U) cadre and rescuing a driver hailing from Nagaland.

The KRA (U) cadre identified as one Avei alias RK alias Koko (21) s/o Khou of Viewland Colony in Senapati district is said to be the finance secretary of the armed group, according to the SP's statement.

He was arrested at around 5.30 pm from kakching Lamkhai in the follow-up action, said Clay while naming the rescued Tata driver as one Manoj Sumer Singh s/o Man Bahadur of Kohima.

Manoj was reportedly abducted from kangpokpi area.

Imphal West police commandos were also involved in nabbing one of the six UGs with the rounding up of one PREPAK cadre identified as Langoljam Sunil Singh (33) s/o L Modhumangol Singh of Kwakeithel Nganapithong Mapal.

Arrested from Khagempalli crossing at around 9.30 am yesterday the commando team also recovered one mobile handset (Sony with Reliance sim card (9863180557) from his possession, said SSP (Imphal West) L Kailun in a statement issued today.

A KCP cadre identified as Thingbaijam Somorjit Singh alias Gogoi (28) s/o Th Surjit Singh of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai is also among the arrested persons with a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles netted the individual from Khongman mangjil at around 6.30 am yesterday.

One PULF activist and two KYKL cadres have been apprehended by troops of 34 AR from different places, informed an AR PRO release.

The PULF cadre identified as S/S sgt Atao Rehman alias Alam (21) s/o Azizur Rehman of Yairipok Malom was apprehended from Malom yesterday.

He was handed over to Yairipok police station.

The two KYKL cadres identified as Chingambam alias Naobi alias Nanaobi (23) s/o Ch Khomel r/o Khudunbung Leikai Kiyam Siphai and Ngathem Somorjit alias Suranjeet (31) s/o Maimu of Ngathem Leikai Kiyam Siphai were arrested from Kiyam Siphai today.

Both of them have been handed over to Thoubal police station, added the release.
