Imphal, January 31: The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) has pledged to fight for rights of the working class (peasants) including those engaged in brick-making firms.

Interacting with reporters somewhere in Churachandpur district yesterday, commander in-chief of KCP (MC) Laishram Lamyanba asserted that the armed group had been seriously observing disproportionate wages provided to brick farm workers and others.

Pointing out that low payment to these class of workers is an important factor for individuals deviating from socially acceptable behaviour, Lamyanba maintained that the working conditions and benefits thereof would be closely monitored to weed out any form of discrimination.

adding Government doctors' continuous liaison with private hospitals/clinics under the outfit's scanner, he contended that such profit-centric doctors had been compounding financial woes of the daily wage earners and that the KCP has decided to ask private clinic/hospitals for furnishing all relevant documentary records including treatment charges levied on the patients.

Lamyanba also conveyed the banned organisation's decision to initiate appropriate action against those responsible for allegedly siphoning off funds sanctioned under the 'Central Bamboo Project' for the hill districts particularly Tamenglong and churachandpur districts.

Regarding contradictions within the KCP organisation, the commander in-chief insisted that one Lanheiba Meitei of Patsoi, who claimed to be the secretary of the military council, is merely an impostor leading a pack of individuals to extort from the public and malign the image of the armed group.

He further disclosed that Lanheiba, whom the MPLF had on March 9 last warned to mend his ways from nefarious activities, holds a Major rank in the Indian army and is posted at Sikkim.

Lamyanba also named one Lanchenba alias Makar alias Naoba of Napet Palli and Laishram Ranjit alias Manao alias Lanngakpa alias Loya of Yurembam Awang Leikai as the accomplices of Lanheiba in addition to informing that Lanchenba is hiding somewhere in Shillong along with Rs 18 lakhs he looted from the party fund.

Moreover, L Ranjit had been accused of posing as the outfit's defence secretary besides misusing organisation's fund. Clarifying that the mentioned trio has no connection with the KCP (MC), Lamyanba asked them to surrender within February 15 failing which all out efforts would be made to teach them befitting lesson.

Referring to a news report published in the January 29 edition of State dailies wherein Lalheiba Meitei had labelled Lamyanba of having close liaison with 19 Assam Rifles, the KCP leader identifying himself as the said Lamyanba alias Bhim s/o Meino of Awang Khunou said he is the commander in-chief of KCP (MC) and dismissed Lalheiba's assertion as baseless and concocted.

Further informing that KCP (MC) would observe March 4 as 'black day' in remembrance of the deaths of the KCP's founder leader Baji Ibohanbi and eight other comrades, he appealed for cessation of all form of economic activities on this day and abstain from organising or participating in entertainment programmes from 6 am till 6 pm of the said day.

The restriction, however, will not cover medical personnel or religious occasions, Lamyanba said while offering revolutionary salute to seven KCP cadres slain in three separate incidents this month.
