AR distributes sports items, holds tribute event

Imphal, January 30 2025:
Assam Rifles distributed sports equipment to the youths of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts in response to a request from the Tangkhul Mayar Naga Long (TMNL) seeking Assam Rifles' support in providing sports equipment for training of over 40 aspiring footballers from various villages in the two districts.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the training scheduled from February 4 to 15 shall be part of Phase 2 development programme aimed at equipping the young players with the skills and resources needed to pursue their dream of representing the national team.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles conducted a wreath-laying parade to commemorate Martyrs' Day on Wednesday and pay tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The event witnessed the participation of 9 officers and nearly 500 personnel.
Wreaths were also laid at the memorial, followed by a solemn two-minute silence.
At the event, officials of Assam Rifles emphasised the significance of the day, urging all ranks to draw inspiration from the courage and dedication of the fallen heroes, said the PRO, adding that the ceremony reflected deep respect and remembrance for their sacrifice.
